World Oceans Day!
Orca Scuba wishes the world a happy one!
Today is a global celebration of our oceans and their inhabitants. Unfortunately, the main focus this year will be around the damage that is being done every day by pollution and specifically one of the main culprits: plastic garbage.
The good news is Orca Scuba are trying to start at the root for a solution by targeting the younger generation and teaching them to love and respect the oceans through learning to scuba dive.
Our goal is to educate an army of young underwater advocates through schools and kids clubs in Singapore & Malaysia who will bring our message home to their parents and in time pass it along to their own children.
This weekend we host 33 Cubs from the Singapore Scout Association who will take their first breaths underwater when they complete the PADI Bubble Maker program with Orca Scuba.
We are proud to say that so far we have completed programs with.
Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL)
Stamford American International School (SAIS)
United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA)
Saint Joseph’s Institution International (SJII)
Marlborough College Johor, Malaysia
And pledge this year to start programs with many more schools, clubs and associations, spreading our message far and wide.
This year our team worked hard on the research for the book “A Manifesto to Save the Oceans, Planet & Ourselves. “Together We Can Turn Tides – Creating Positive Footprints”.
The book launch which was held against the amazing backdrop of the world’s largest acrylic viewing panel measuring 36 meters wide by x 8.3 meters tall at the S.E.A Aquarium, Singapore and included talks on marine life and rain forest conservation by:
Danny Dwyer – PADI Asia Pacific Vice President of Training, Sales and Field Services,
Kelly Timmins – Senior Manager, Conservation & Education at the S.E.A Aquarium
Neill Cross – DBS bank chief innovation officer & owner founder of Hotel Orangutan
Alongside author and owner/founder of Orca Scuba, Jeroen van de Waal.
Orca Scuba is more than a scuba diving center, we together with our collaborators are a movement, a wave of change creating positive footprints towards a greener and bluer future for all.
