Celebrating 10 Years of OrcaNation: A Journey of Exploration, Education and Impact
Ten years ago, OrcaNation began with a single purpose: to connect people with the natural world and build a generation of environmental advocates. What started as a vision rooted in the ocean has grown into a thriving organisation working across Southeast Asia and beyond, blending outdoor adventure, environmental education and real-world learning experiences.
From coral reefs to mangroves, from rainforests to rivers, our programmes take young people into the heart of ecosystems. They learn how nature is interconnected, and why it matters. Whether through diving, trekking, fieldwork or service learning, we use the outdoors as a platform to inspire curiosity, develop resilience and foster a lifelong sense of environmental responsibility.
Resilient Through Challenge
The past decade has brought extraordinary moments and unexpected trials. Like many organisations, we faced major disruption during the global pandemic. Schools closed, travel stopped and programmes were postponed. But our mission never paused.
We used that time to reflect and rebuild. We strengthened our curriculum, deepened our partnerships and prepared to re-emerge with renewed purpose and clarity. When the world reopened, we returned to the field stronger, more agile and more determined than ever.
A Decade of Impact
Since 2014, we have delivered educational programmes to tens of thousands of students, educators and families. Our work spans coastal villages, tropical islands, dense forests and vibrant international school communities. We have guided young people through their first dive, their first ecological survey, their first mangrove restoration project and their first real connection with the natural world.
Our programmes do more than teach science. They build teamwork, confidence, adaptability and a sense of agency. These are the foundations of global citizenship. They empower young people to understand their impact and take action for a better future.
Looking Ahead
As we mark this milestone, we are already shaping what comes next. We are expanding to new sites and regions, building capacity across our hubs, and strengthening curriculum links with IB, IGCSE, A Level and other frameworks.
Our ambition is bold. We aim to make environmental and ocean literacy accessible to all. We want every student to have the chance to explore diverse ecosystems, learn from them, and grow into informed, compassionate stewards of the planet.
Because this work is not optional. It is essential. The wellbeing of our planet and the future of the next generation depend on it.
